Setup Steps

1. Place the main board (Bird Temple side for your first game) and the supply board in the center. Fill the supply spaces with coins, compasses, and cards as shown.
2. Build the card row: reveal the top Item cards and Artifact cards to form the market you buy from.
3. Shuffle the site tiles and place them in stacks on the board, then set a guardian tile face down on the top space of each stack.
4. Each player takes a player board, 2 archaeologist figures, 1 magnifying glass and 1 notebook marker, and the 4-card starting deck in their color.
5. Place your research markers at the bottom of the temple track.
6. Take your starting resources based on player order: later players start with an extra compass.
