Components
- Game Board (Board): The city of Waterdeep with 9 basic Buildings (action spaces), the rounds track (1-8), the scoring track, and 10 open spaces for advanced Building tiles.
- Agents (Meeple): Wooden agent tokens in each player color. Each player starts with 4 Agents in their pool. Each player also places 1 Agent near the Round 5 space. (2 players)
- Agents (Meeple): Wooden agent tokens in each player color. Each player starts with 3 Agents in their pool. Each player also places 1 Agent near the Round 5 space. (3 players)
- Agents (Meeple): Wooden agent tokens in each player color. Each player starts with 2 Agents in their pool. Each player also places 1 Agent near the Round 5 space. (4+ players)
- Adventurer Cubes (100, Resource): 100 cubes in four types: Clerics (white, 25), Fighters (orange, 25), Rogues (black, 25), Wizards (purple, 25). Used to complete Quests. If the supply runs out of a type, you cannot gain more of that type.
- Quest Cards (60, Card): 60 cards showing adventurer requirements, gold cost, rewards, and Quest type (Arcana, Commerce, Piety, Skullduggery, Warfare). Completed Quests score VP. Some are Plot Quests with ongoing effects.
- Intrigue Cards (50, Card): 50 special action cards played at Waterdeep Harbor. Three types: Attack (harm opponents), Utility (help yourself), Mandatory Quest (force an opponent to complete a minor Quest before any others).
- Lord Cards (11, Card): 11 secret identity cards. Each Lord scores bonus VP at game end for completing specific Quest types or controlling Buildings.
- Building Tiles (24, Tile): 24 advanced Building tiles that add new action spaces when purchased from Builder's Hall. Cost varies by tile. Owner gains a benefit when any other player uses the Building.
- Building Control Markers (45, Marker): Die-cut tokens matching each player color, placed on Buildings to indicate ownership. 9 per player color.
- Gold Tokens (60, Resource): Currency used to buy Buildings, pay Quest costs, and activate certain actions. 50 tokens of 1 Gold and 10 tokens of 5 Gold.
- Victory Point Tokens (41, Token): 36 VP tokens placed on the rounds track at setup (3 per round space). At the start of each round, the 3 tokens from that round's space are distributed to face-up Buildings in Builder's Hall. Also 5 tokens marked 100 VP for when a score marker laps the track.
- Ambassador (Marker): Neutral Agent piece. Gained by assigning an Agent to the Palace of Waterdeep advanced Building. You assign the Ambassador before any other player at the start of the next round, then it returns when that round ends.
- Lieutenant (Marker): Neutral Agent piece. Gained permanently by completing the Recruit Lieutenant Plot Quest. Once recruited, the Lieutenant counts as one of your Agents for the rest of the game.
- First Player Marker (Marker): Indicates who goes first each round. Obtained by assigning an Agent to Castle Waterdeep.
- Score Markers (5, Marker): 5 circular wooden pieces (one per player color) for the scoring track.
- Player Mats (5, Board): 5 mats (one per player color) with areas for Agent Pool, Tavern (holds Adventurers and Gold), and Completed Quests.
- Corruption Track (Board): Tracks Corruption tokens taken by players. At game end, players lose VP based on total Corruption in play. (scoundrels expansion)
- Corruption Tokens (Token): Negative VP tokens gained from certain powerful actions. The more Corruption in play, the more VP each token costs at game end. (scoundrels expansion)
- Skullport Board (Board): Expansion board with powerful action spaces that often give Corruption as a cost. (scoundrels expansion)
- Undermountain Board (Board): Expansion board with high-reward action spaces for experienced players. (scoundrels expansion)
